NET METERING
allows homes to produce green power

“Today’s problems cannot be solved if we still think the way we thought when we created them”
Albert Einstein

When will Santee Cooper give the people of South Carolina the ability to use renewable energy by allowing “Net Metering”!

"Participation in New Jersey has skyrocketed by over 30,000 percent since 2002,  It's amazing. The state utility commission is literally drowning in new applications. What New Jersey and other states (like Montana, California and Oregon) prove is that Americans are willing to invest in their own energy independence if regulations would only let them."

Santee Cooper To Allow Something!

The South Carolina Public Service Authority (Santee-Cooper) big news on the August 27th board meeting was they were going to start a pilot "net billing" program.

Bad News...
Still Looks Like A "PIG IN A POKE"

Look at the offer, it is almost like the program that North Carolina put in place 2 years ago. Only 80 customers have signed up in the whole state. It is doubtful Santee Cooper will get that many to sign up, even with zero interest financing.

Lonnie Carter, Santee Cooper's chief executive officer said "We are being more generous than some of the other utilities on this," Carter said. "I think we've taken every step we can within reason to encourage this to happen."
With a statement like that, obviously Mr. Carter did not look at the “Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency” that lists all of the states that have "net metering".
You would also have to believe that he hasn't read the “Freeing The Grid” report that rates all of the states on net metering. After looking at these reports, one has to ask, “how can Mr. Carter claim to be so generous to the people of South Carolina”?
A lot of utilities are doing the same thing, allowed net billing or net metering rules so bad no one wants to put them into effect. Is this the generous part that Mr. Carter is talking about?
The real question, why is the state owned South Carolina Public Service Authority (Santee Cooper) working so hard to prevent the people from having a net metering program that has been proven to create thousands of new jobs. Create hundreds of new businesses and factories in every state that it is allowed. Think of the multiple sub-divisions of zero-energy-homes that will increase in value each year and in doing so give us a better way to live.
Now is the time to act!!!!
This is the right cause, 40 states and hundreds of utilities have already joined this renewable energy revolution.
Home owners, businesses, school districts, cities, and counties can not reduce costs or participate in the green power revolution without net metering.
Without public pressure put on your Governor and Santee Cooper we will never get true net metering rules.
In South Carolina it is vested interests not wanting to change.
Anybody who says you can’t change the state government is wrong. If you have ideals that you want to live up to, you better be part of the solution and not just part of the griping and protesting. Roll up your sleeves and tell South Carolina State Politicians to allow true net metering rules so we can join the renewable energy revolution and live a better life ....

A ZERO ENERGY HOME USING RENEWABLE ENERGY
It will only happen with your help!

What is Net Metering?
Net Metering measures the difference between the electricity you buy from your utility and the electricity you generate using your own solar or wind generating equipment. Your meter keeps track of this difference as you generate electricity and take electricity from the electricity transmission grid. When you generate more than you use, your electric meter spins backward!

BENEFITS OF NET METERING
Offers incentives for utility customers to invest in nonpolluting distributed energy sources.
Is easily adaptable to all forms of small-scale electrical generation.
Simplifies interconnection processes, technically and administratively, for utilities and consumer generators.
Decentralizes generation in a flexible way, benefiting the utility’s power distribution profile.
Enhances the competitiveness of green power sources with respect to more conventional sources of energy.
Provides an equitable way of banking a home’s surplus power with the utility.http://icfsteel.com/questions.htmlhttp://www.scstatehouse.net/cgi-bin/zipcodesearch.exehttp://icfsteel.com/questions.htmlhttp://icfsteel.com/questions.htmlhttp://icfsteel.com/questions.htmlhttp://icfsteel.com/questions.htmlshapeimage_4_link_0shapeimage_4_link_1shapeimage_4_link_2shapeimage_4_link_3shapeimage_4_link_4shapeimage_4_link_5
